Gigajoule started investigating methods to increase the availability and use of natural gas in Mozambique. This led to extensive studies and visits to countries with successful records of gas development and to equipment suppliers.
It was subsequently decided to introduce a virtual pipeline system, using CNG technology, to Matola and Maputo. As a result, the second Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) system in Africa, apart from Egypt, was constructed and became operational in 2007. This system makes it possible to deliver Natural Gas to customers that are far away from the pipeline network.
